About Us

What We Can Achieve Together

At Friends of Redditch Railway, we are empowered to make a tangible difference in our community.

Through our affiliation with the Community Rail Network, we have the opportunity to secure funding for a variety of station improvement projects. From transforming drab surroundings into lush green spaces through planting, gardening, and landscaping initiatives to adding vibrant splashes of color with painted fences and walls, our team is dedicated to enhancing the aesthetics and functionality of our local station.

Additionally, we aim to infuse creativity and culture into the station environment by installing art installations that reflect the vibrancy of our community. By organizing open days and pop-up events, we foster a sense of engagement and inclusivity, inviting residents to explore and connect with their local railway.

Furthermore, as stewards of our railway infrastructure, we take pride in ensuring its upkeep and maintenance. Through regular vigilance and communication with West Midlands Railway, we promptly report instances of vandalism and faults, contributing to the safety and reliability of our railway services.

By actively engaging with stakeholders and harnessing the collective efforts of our community, Friends of Redditch Railway serves as a catalyst for positive change, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in our local transportation hub.

    Working together

The ‘Adopt a Station’ scheme enables individuals or groups to adopt their local railway station and contribute to its use and welfare.

Stations can become beacons of hope and revival for local communities and volunteer efforts can help restore their place as central to local life.

The ‘Adopt a Station’ scheme enables individuals or groups to adopt their own local railway station and work with us as the Train Operating Company, playing an active role in reviving and enhancing their local Station.

Railway Station ‘volunteer’ activity provides a positive outlet for local energy to contribute to improving towns and villages and these community partnerships can be transformational for both economies and societies.

‘Friends of a Station’ come together to plant, paint, create, improve and promote and great friendships can be made with station staff, other volunteers and members of the wider community.

The rewards are evident in commuters and passengers’ responses and the visible upgrades which are uplifting to witness.
